F Division - Kerswell finish season with perfect record

The F Division champions made it 16 wins in as many completed games when they defeated Cullompton by three wickets.

No other team this season has won every game they have finished in any division of the Devon League – and probably never has.

There have been unbeaten teams before whose records included draws, but a quick scan of the record books suggests no one has won every game.

Spin twins Chris Hurrell (3-24) and Paul Harding (3-23) dismissed Cully for 181 – Sanjay Rajapaske making a top score of 48.

Pieter Douglas (30) made early inroads into the target, Rajapaske (4-36) put the brake on then Ellis Denega (35no) finished things off.

There was double disappointment for Cullompton, who started the day in second spot but dropped back to third as Exeter CS beat Newton St Cyres by 85 runs to go past them into the second promotion spot.

Chelston finished fourth in the final standings after going down by four wickets to Cheriton Fitzpaine.

Mark Faulkner (72) and Kazi Szymanski (30) were the main run getters in Chelston’s 203 for eight.

Tasmanian Ben Briscoe spun his way to figures of four for 21, but Will Tovey (60) and Ben Coe (61no) got the Cherries over the line.
