Having inserted Wiltshire, the home side were hoping for a start like the Gloucestershire match where they were reduced the opposition to 13 for 5. The great thing about cricket is that no two matches are alike! The Wiltshire openers batted well putting any bad ball away to the boundary. However the pitch had the look and feel that the batters would never really feel like they were 'in'! This proved to be the case. Wickets fell with 24, 44, 72 and 84 on the board, proving is was hard to create partnerships.
Devon bowled well, however the ground fielding will need to improve for the Somerset match on June 22nd! Fumbles and miss-fields are uncharacteristic but still need tidying up!
With Wiltshire on 99 for 4 with 15 overs remaining, it could have been a good match, however it wasn't to be. Two prolonged, heavy showers and an early tea taken, the umpires confirmed the inevitable. James Onley-Gregson (1-17), Oliver Robinson (1-37) and James Degg (2-14) taking the wickets.
Our sincere thanks to Chagford Cricket Club, especially Brice & Sue for tea's! Thank you to our two umpires!
Finally, a mention for Oliver Robinson taking his first County wicket. Well done Ollie!
