As you will see from the Devon Cricket Board webpage we have made some changes to the
Child Protection pages over recent months. We hope that this will be more useful in providing a resource for Welfare Officers to access useful information. If there are additional things that you would like to see there then please contact me and we can look at how this could be included. Please check out the link at
http://www.devoncricket.com/page.asp?p=dcb-child-protection You will no doubt be aware that the Protection of Freedoms Act comes into effect next month. While we are carrying on operating under our current guidance in terms of who needs to have vetting and barring checks (CRB checks) and how this needs to be done
http://static.ecb.co.uk/files/010kb-11273.pdf there could be changes coming up and we will let you know about those. The current ECB position which we are following in relation to this can be found here
https://www.ecb.co.uk/ecb/vetting-and-barring-scheme,307717,EN.html If you would like more information about this new Act then some is available at this link from the Independent Safeguarding Authority
http://www.isa.homeoffice.gov.uk/Default.aspx?page=2 On thing which will be changing is the form which people need to complete. These new forms should be issued from December 2012 so please be careful about which forms you are getting people to complete or signing off. A sample of the new form is attached.
We are looking to ensure that our information about who our Club Welfare Officer are is as up to date as possible and your assistance with this would be appreciated. Claire Colman will be in contact with each club. This will also help us in planning our training delivery for early next year where we will be providing both Safe Hands and Safe Hands Refresher courses for Club Welfare Officers.
I hope this is of use and I look forward to hearing from you if you have any queries about issues raised. Thanks again for all your efforts in this important area of work which helps to make cricket an enjoyable safe sport for children and young people.
