ABBOTSKERSWELL are pulling out all the stops to ensure the T20 game against Somerset next Wednesday night (June 12) is a big hit.The Cidermen are visiting Two Mile Oak as part of Arul Suppiah’s benefit year.
Somerset beneficiaries traditionally support the Children’s Hospice South West in North Devon during their year and Suppiah is no exception.
Main sponsors Wollen Michelmore solicitors and all the programme are doing their bit to make it memorable day which raises plenty of funds for the hospice.
Internationals Marcus Trescothick, Craig Kieswetter and Peter Trego are among the likely stars on show.
Somerset are no strangers to Abbotskerswell with previous fixtures at Two Mile Oak in 1998 for the club’s centenary and 1999 when Andy Caddick was the beneficiary.
Somerset captain Trescothick opened new nets at the ground in 2009.
As a warm up to the main event there will be a Kwik cricket competition between six local schools, alongside other fun and games, including a raffle and an auction for a cricket bat signed by the Somerset team.
Other attractions include a beer tent stocked by local brewer Teignworthy, a cream tea tent with home-made cakes and the chance to buy cricket equipment and clothing from Devon County Sports.
With parking limited at the ground there will be a free mini-bus providing transport from nearby Fermoy’s Garden Centre.
Entry to the ground is £3 for over 14s.
