Devon Cricket Board - A Division - Tipper wary of Shobrooke

EXETER skipper Jon Tipper will be paying lowly Shobrooke Park plenty of respect in tomorrow’s clash in the County Ground.;
Shobrooke are on off the bottom of the table and have only won once this season. They recently asked former Exeter all-rounder Justin Dollow to take over as captain from Chris Ford.
Tipper said it was Shobrooke’s dire position that makes them a threat and he will be treating them accordingly.
“Shobrooke need the points, otherwise they are playing B Division cricket again next season,” said Tipper.
“They have to play to win and knowing their new captain that is what he will be aiming to do.
“Where Shobrooke are in the table is irrelevant. We will have to play our A game to be sure of beating them.”
Opening batsman Alex Bosomworth is not available so Mike Wilkisnon comes into the side.
Shobroiiek give a debut to 14-year-old Dan Pyle, who comes in for Cliff Dare.
Dollow has promised Exeter a test, but is well aware the odds favour the city side.
“It will be a tough game for us,” said Dollow. No cricket for three weeks and then an outing against the top side in the division.
“Exeter will be a difficult test, but we will need a positive result from this game to keep our A Division aspirations alive. We will be scrapping for every point.”
For Sunday’s McKinleyWhite T20 finals, Tipper has yet to finalise his squad.
“The squad is a bit like the weather – changeable,” said Tipper.

ABBOTSKERSWELL will be looking to bounce back from their nine-wicket drubbing by Exeter when they make the short trip to South Devon.
The derby clash is generally a competitive affair – and this one will be no exception.
South Devon need points to get away from the drop zone: Abbots need them to avoid being sucked into the relegation morass.
“This derby will be a hard-fought affair as South Devon will be looking for as many points as possible and Abbots will be looking to put a strong performance in,” said Abbots’ skipper Richard Lake.
Hugo Whitlock who is bowling well in the 2nd XI, comes in for Dave Palmer. Steve Short bolsters the batting order.
South Devon hope to name the same side which drew at Plymstock last time out.
“Looking forward to the proposed sunshine forecast for the weekend and not the previous norm of wellies,” said South Devon captain Adrian Hewings.
“We are looking toward the derby are keen to improve on our first game with them when we lost at their place.
“We know what we have to do but it's time to deliver.”

PLYMPTON skipper Andy Walter won’t be taking any notice of the form book ahead of the derby clash with Plymstock at Dean Cross.
Plymstock are a bit too close for comfort to the bottom of the table and failed to beat cellar dwellers South Devon last time out, although they did have the thick end of a draw.
“As we all know when you are playing a local derby the league table doesn't mean a lot,” said Walter.
“We haven't played for two weeks and also have only been able to train twice, so we're going into the game a bit rusty.
“Plymstock played last week and had a good result. Hopefully we can pick up from where we left off and hit the ground running.
“Personally, I am looking forward to getting out and playing again. “
John Fish and Alex Carr aren't available so Jez Williams and Matt Gregory come in.

BRAUNTON entertain Brixham treating the game as a fresh start.
It feels a bit like pre-season, so I hope all of our lads are ready to go,” said skipper John Bagllow.
“We haven't been able to train much over the last couple of weeks so we need to hit the ground running against a decent side.
Braunton are pretty much at full strength with Jas Kalsi over an injury that would have ruled him out last week.
Batter Laurence May has now finished his Kings College commitments so is available.

CORNWOOD can expect a through examination of their promotion credentials when they visit Paignton.
Paignton are up to fourth in the table after their win over Brixham last Saturday and just 12 points behind the second-placed Corns.
Paignton skipper Andy Kingdon recently reiterated his promotion ambitions for the club – and a win over Cornwood would prove that was more than just talk.
Cornwood beat Paignton when the sides last met, but Harris has a growing respect for them.
“Since we last played Paignton they have continued to improve and have shown themselves to be a team on a charge,” said Cornwood captain Craig Harris.
“We want to play against the best and the only way we will do that is by winning games like this and playing with the right attitude.
“Having lost a few games now to bad weather ,the league has tightened up a bit and so every game is key. We are playing to win.”
Cornwood may have Premier aspirations, but were shown how wide the gap is between where they are now and where they want to be when Sidmouth dumped them out of the Devon Cup in Sunday.
Although we lost against Sidmouth, it gave us a chance to show how much we need to raise our games should be end up in the promotion slots at the end of the season,” said Harris.
“The discipline shown was the real factor - the confidence and sensibility in playing basic, simple cricket at a high level is something we aspire to, and train to achieve.”
Team news is that Matt Butterworth is injured and Alistair Craig now unavailable for the rest of the season. Ben Warren and Ryan Rickard come in.
Andy Kingdon, the Paignton captain, hasn’t forgotten the defeat at Cornwood and would like revenge.
Having said that, Kingdon added that Paignton are a stronger side now having picked up a clutch of players from Abbotskerswell.
“Cornwood have had a good season this year and smashed us at their place so we will have to be on top of are game ,” said Kingdon.
“Team-wise, Chris Kelmere is proving a super signing as he has great control when he bowls.
“Phil Allen will hopefully help us push Cornwood hard.
“Again he has good control when he bowls with some extra pace.”
