A DIVISION
SOMERSET’S Lewis Gregory will be lending Plympton a hand when Paignton visit Harewood House.
Somerset are in T20 mode at the moment and Gregory isn’t immediately required.
As well as the Somerset all-rounder, Plympton also have seamer Ryan Skinner back after a break.
Plympton’s form has been a bit hit and miss recently so vice-captain David Wrench hopes some new faces will bring a change in fortunes.
“I have said it for the past couple of weeks but nothing is changing, the batsmen in the middle order are not doing it,” said Wrench.
“Once the first four get out, we look like we have been opened and we don’t seem to have a tail either.”
Paignton are running into form after a slow start to the season, a run skipper Andy Kingdon wants to continue.
Kingdon is confident, but not to the point of making any assumptions.
“Plympton are always a hard team to play against and I expect it to be a tough game,” said Kingdon.
“By the end of the season I fully expect them to be around the top of the table so the game will be a good test for us.”
Seb Benton is back from holiday in for Mike Pedley, who is unavailable.
Meanwhile, Plympton have signed spinner Pasi Mawalage from near neighbours Plymouth and he will make his debut in the 2nd XI at Paignton.
THE pressure is on South Devon to get a result against visiting Shobrooke Park, otherwise the battle to avoid relegation will take a turn for the worse.
Shobrooke Park are one of the two sides winless South Devon have to get past if they are going to get out of the bottom two.
Defeat tomorrow could cast South Devon up to xx points adrift – and the halfway stage of the season isn’t here yet!
South Devon captain Adrian Hewings isn’t putting unnecessary pressure on the team by making any sweeping statements.
“I am looking forward to a home game after back-to-back away fixtures,” said the skipper.
Spinner Matt Coult, batter Henty Burningham and seamer Pat Duke are all available after weddings and work commitments.
Batter Ben Chadwick and seamer Jonty Parsons away due to work and a holiday respectively.

IT’S a family affair at Dean Cross where Plymstock captain Dave Orchard is up against cousin Mark Orchard, who skipper’s Brixham.
Both sides have had transfer action during the last few days with one in at Plymstock and one out at Brixham.
Spinner and lower-order batsman James Nicholls has thrown his lot in Plymstock after finding 1st XI opportunities limited across Laira Bridge at Plymouth.
Dave Orchard is looking forward to a stronger Plymstock side with more options running through it.
Brixham have lost player-coach and all-rounder Mark Gilmour, who has joined Premier side Torquay.
Skipper Mark Orchard isn’t dwelling in the departure of Gilmour as he didn’t play in the winning draw at Shobrooke last Saturday and the team did fine without him.
“It will be a tough game as Plymstock have a very talented squad that hasn't had a lot of luck this year.
“Our philosophy is to concentrate on ourselves and our standards and performances.
“This helps us not worry about who we are playing and maximise our own game in order to make it very difficult for the other side to get anything out of the game.
Will Matthewman and Rhys Dallow are in for Andrew Lewin and Joe Hyde, who are away.
CORNWOOD captain Craig Harris will be treading warily against visiting Abbotskerswell – with good reason.
For Abbots turned Plympton over last time out – and not by a little but by a lot.
“Having played Plympton we know how well Abbots must have played to do so,” said Harris.
The Corns triumphed over Braunton last Saturday, although Harris was a spectator as work commitments prevented him being there at star time.
What Harris saw convinced him the Corns are moving in the right direction.
“The fielding and bowling execution was disciplined and chasing the target was confident and assertive,” said Harris. “Jason Hall’s captaincy was great.
“With so many weeks left in the season we know how important momentum is and all we are trying to do is continue to play well, to our game, and keep things moving forward.
“All of our players are learning as we play and I think its very important to keep grounded in doing so.”

Abbots have a much-changed look about them as Richard Ashworth, Dickie Acton, captain Richard Lake and Mark Porter are all absent.
Marcus Green is available to come back in with Alex Birt and Duncan Manners-Chapman. Chris Kelmere will captain the side.
Before handing over to the 19-year-old all-rounder, Lake said: “Cornwood have being playing some good cricket which shows in their position in the table,
“Abbots will no doubt play some positive cricket and this is a big opportunity for the guys coming in to put in a good performance.”

LEADERS Exeter are away to Braunton where they will be looking to lay a bogey.

“We lost twice to Braunton last season and had we won either game – or even avoided losing – we would have been promoted,” said skipper Jon Tipper.

Exeter have a few selection issues tomorrow as batters Chris Webb, Rob Holman and Miles Lenygon are all missing, as is seamer Angry Mead.

In come Alec Bosomworrth, Tchepo Legodi and veteran Glenn Lammonby, who has been dusted down and brought back from semi-retirement as batting cover.
Having lost convincingly at Cornwood last time out, Braunton skipper Jon Baglow says his side face another still test.
“There are two form sides in this division – Cornwoood and Exeter – so it won’t be any easier,” said Baglow.

“Cornwood set some good standards in the field and with the bat and showed that they have improved from last season.

“If they keep that team together and have a couple back that they were missing, then I think they will go close.

“They are the best side we have played this season so far.

“We have lots to improve on and can take away some lessons shown last week.

“We have had some good results against Exeter lately and will be hoping for more of the same.”
