A Division 2nd XI - Sandford cheat weather

A DIVISION

SANDFORD remain top of the table in the A Division following a six-wicket win over visiting Braunton.

Mark Lathwell (58) and son Sam (20) put on 69 for the fifth Braunton wicket after an early going over from Jamie Palmer (4-29).

From 131 for five Braunton nosedived to 143 all out with Steve Morrish (3-19) and England O60s’ all-rounder Bob Eames (3-31) finishing them off.

It was the Lathwell’s this time Mark (2-25) and Josh (2-32) who posed most of the problems when Sandford batted.

However, a stand of 61 for the third wicket between Ben Clement (71no) and Shaun Hawkins (32) broke the back of the chase.

Heathcoat stay second, eight points behind Sandford, after doing everything but beat Stoke Gabriel at Knightshayes.

Lee Dixon top scored on 69 not out – he and Peter Moisan (29no) put on 99 unbroken – and with James Davies scoring 50 and Sam Lockwood 36 a total of 214 for four was achieved.

The wickets were shared between Angus Lee, Alex Hill, Dave Bolland and Doug Ansley.

Stoke were 140 for seven when time ran out – three runs short of the total needed for draw points.

After Ashley Hill (46) and Paul Collings (43) put on 80 for the first wicket, Stoke slowed up against Guy Clatworthy (3-29) and Moisan (3-31).

Chudeigh 2nd XI got in little more than half a game against Plymouth 3rd XI before rain stopped play.

Chudleigh’s total of 173 for eight was constructed around two main partnerships. Simon Husson (40) and Graeme Wilson (44) put on 70 for the first wicket, then Ben Ripley (28) and Paul Horne (34) got the tally up to 162 for four.

There were three wickets apiece for Martin Gill and Mohy Shahrukh.

Plymouth were eight without loss in the fourth over when it poured down.
