England stars to hand out awards at youth prize night
THERE is an international flavour to the new-look DCB Youth Association awards function next Friday night (October 12).

Devon’s three Somerset and England U19 graduates Lewis Gregory and the Overton twins will be there to meet the youngsters.

Gregory is a former England U19 skipper while Craig and Jamie Overton were in the U19 World Cup squad that went to Australia earlier this year.

Prizes will be handed out by Heather Knight (left), the former Plymstock and Devon all-rounder who is currently with England at the World T20, and Caroline Atkins.

Atkins is a former England opener who played in one and three-day Tests between 2001-2011.

The prizes being handed out are range from the district cups for age-group sides, through to the batting, bowling and player of the year awards for the county teams from U10-U19 level.

This year’s event will be held at Exeter Chiefs’ function centre at Sandy Park. For the past 16 years it was organised by long-serving county youth official Ted Ashman and took the form of a luncheon.

Start time is 6.30pm with a break for a buffet supper at 7.30pm
