Gavin Lane presents the David Shepherd Cricket Trust cheque to Barton Cricket Club youngsters
YOUNGSTERS from Barton Cricket Club took time out from their regular Sunday morning coaching
school for a special photo call.
Gavin Lane, from the David Shepherd Cricket Trust, dropped into present a giant cheque from the Trust to the Cricketfield Road club.
Barton were among the pioneers of the Chance to Shine programme
several years ago.
The club has been sending a coach
into primary and secondary schools where cricket is delivered as part of the curriculum and the sport introduced to hundreds of children for the first time.
The Trust, specially set up to support amateur cricket throughout the county, awarded Barton a grant to help towards the costs of this year’s coaching programme.
A Barton official said: “We cannot thank the Trust enough. This is the second year they have supported our Chance to Shine programme and without their help we would struggle to deliver it.
“The Trust does a tremendous amount of work for cricket in Devon.”
