B DivisionLEADERS Barton will be without skipper Adam Parker if their game against Chudleigh goes ahead at Cricketfield Road.
While the rest of us are dodging the showers the Barton skipper is on holiday in Cyprus.
Damon Calland will lead the side in his brother-in-law’s absence. With keeper –batter Andy Hele also unavailable, Calland has some gaps to plug
Tavistock, away to Alphington, are a batter and an all-rounder down due to the absence of Ian Gray and Colin Broughton.
On the plus side Sean Cleave returns to balance the bowling attack.
Thoverton will be disappointed if their game against lowly Axminster is rained off as they are after points to gain ground on the top four.
For the four clubs above them are playing each other and two of them will come off second best.
“This week is important for us owing to the fact that the top four play each other so it's a real opportunity for us to catch some ground,” said skipper Paul Fielder.
“We are unchanged from last week apart James hope coming in after not being able to travel.
“We are just starting to get a consistent team so if the weather breaks I would like us push on for the rest of the season.”
At the other end of the table Dartington & Totnes take on Barnstaple & Pilton looking for another win to propel them further away from the basement.
Skipper Kalon Veale said: “Just hoping to get a game this weekend, been working hard when we can at the ground to make sure there is every chance to play. “
Second-placed Hatherleigh welcome Lewdown (4th) in a game with plenty riding on it in the promotion stakes.
Lewdown are 11 points behind Hatherleigh and have already lost to their near neighbours once this season and are out for revenge.
“In such a tight division every game is an important one but this one more so,” said Lewdown skipper Charlie Hughes.
‘Being 11 points behind Hatherleigh, defeat would leave lot of catching up to do.
With Barton playing Chudleigh, even more may ride on it.”
Hatherleigh skipper Mark Lake is quite clear about his intentions for the match.
“The game is crucial as Lewdown are not far behind us and will be looking to gain revenge from the reverse fixture.
“We still remain very confident of gaining another promotion, but know there are a lot of big games ahead.”
Andrew collier is unavailable so Jack Cherrington comes back into the Hatherleigh side.
