BRIXHAM
took a losing draw off Sidmouth 3rd XI in the only B Division 2nd XI game
played to a finish.
Graham
Munday (75no) and Dick Powell (56) helped Sidmouth reach 204 for five.
Mike Barron
(3-43) was Brixham’s main wicket-taker and also their leading run-gett er with
46 in a reply of 147 for eight. Jamie Briggs took four for 14 for the Sids.
South Devon
were on the verge of defeat at Alphington, who were 155 for six chasing 176 to
win. Andy Hawkey (39) and Alan Davey (37) the prime run scorers. Earlier, Ian
Shepherd (65) and Neil Matthews (41) led the way for South Devon.
Abbotskerswell
were on top in the derby clash with Ipplepen, who were clinging on at 97 for
eight after a going over from Toby Codd (3-350 and Marcus Green (3-22).
Earlier,
Paul Acton (67) and Hayden Crocker (33) rescued Abbots, who reached 158 all
out.
Abbots had
been six for two before Acton and Crocker embarked on a stand of 90.
Crocker
fell to S Barratt (2-37), but Green (21) kept Acton company up to 138 for five.
Then Graham
Peach (4-33) got involved as Abbots lost their last six wickets for 20 runs.
“It was
another frustrating day for Abbots after being rained off last week against
bottom of the table Alphington - and for the second time this season when in a
good position for a win,” said disappointed skipper Guy Harrison-Roberts.
Bideford
had been bowled out for 143 by Kingsbridge when rain stopped play, shaun Taylor
taking three for 24 . Dan Barrett made 37.
Ottery St
Mary were saved by the weather against Plymstock. Steve Coomer (53) top scored
for Plymstock in a total of 179 for seven.
Ottery were
49 for five when the match was abandoned – Mike Cherry (5-21) taking all the
wickets to fall.
