B Division - Axminster run out of runs

THORVERTON did get under way in their top-of-the-table B Division tussle with Chudlegh, but the rain won eventually.

Chudleigh made 105 for eight in 36 overs when it rained and there was no going back out.

The main run scorers for the visitors with 23 each were Divan Maritz and Mark Solway.

There were three wickets each for Ben Sloverio and James Hope.

Thorverton did salvage 10 points from the soggy wreckage, which moved them within two points of second-placed Chudleigh with Barnstaple to play this Saturday.

Tavistock came out on top by a distance in the basement battle at Axminster without actually winning!

Ian Gray marked his return after injury with a top score of 71 and with Colin Broughton making 59, Dave Manning 55 not out and Aaron Churchill 34 the Moorlanders posted 239 for three in a 35-over game.

Axminster had to shuffle their order due to players needing an early departure – and lost their first two me for six and four respectively.

Although Ben Libby made 23 not out and Paul Miller 37, runs were a struggle and Axminster’s total of 117 for six wasn’t enough to get the two points for a draw.
