B Division 2nd XI - Abbots win again

ABBOTSKERSWELL 2nd XI’s winning run in league and cup continued when they crushed Sidmouth by seven wickets.

Sidmouth made a positive start with Anthony Dibble (27) scoring freely on a slow wicket before being stumped off Hugo Whitlock.

Toby Codd (3-42) and Dave Palmer (2-30) were among the wickets before Alistair Chilcot (56) and Henry Gater (26) got going.

Whitlock (3-26) and Sean Green (1-11) finished off the tail as Sidmouth were all out for 151

Abbots reached 40 for one when Alex Birt was removed and 92 for two thanks to Guy Harrison-Roberts (30) and Andy Lock (32).

However Green (21no) and Haydn Crocker (27no) batted sensibly as Abbots reached their target with more than 2 overs to spare

Jeff Heath hit 48 and Sam Barrett 47 as Ipplepen defeated Brixham by 41 runs.

Paul Hooper blasted 81 not out and Matt Blackmore chipped in with an unbeaten 38 as South Devon chased 169 to win against Kingsbridge for the loss of Kevin Murphy (21) and no one else. Earlier, Ian Shepherd and Richard Beaumont took three wickets each.

Ian Whalley took three for 14 as Plymstock dismissed Bideford for 108, then cracked 36 in a seven-wicket win.

Rob Johns made 101 in Ottery’s 205 for seven against Alphington, who were bowled out for 77 by Keith Biggs (3-15) and Matt Reed (3-13).
