WELCOME aboard! Tavistock president Stuart Munday greet South African seam bowler Thokozani Peter, who has joined the club for the rest of the season.
Peter, who s 23, has been recruited to help the Moorlanders in their pusn for promotion from the Francis Clark Devon League B Division this season.
He broke into the Western Province 1st XI towards the end of the season just ended in South Africa, taking 20 wickets in five First Class games.
His club side is Green Point in Cape Town. He will make his Tavvy debut this Saturday against visiting Axminster – weather permitting.
Axminster had selection problems last weekend, which prevented them getting a side to Paignton on Sunday in the Devon Cup.
Those issues have eased considerably, which is just as well according to skipper Tristan Wakeley.
“I expect Tavistock to be up there among the front runners so we need to be strong to be competitive” he said.
Brett Garner is the only regular missing from the side.
BARNSTAPLE will ask Lee Cole to keep wicket against Ivybridge in the absence of Andy Barton.
Barton has been tempted out of retirement this year, but this is one game he can’t make.
James Thomas, an all-rounder, and 17-year-old batting prospect Jamie Russell come into the side.
PLYMSTOCK make one change to the side that should be have faced Tavistock for the trip to Braunton.
Liam Savage comes in for Will Sykes.
BIDEFORD have been hurt by injury problems picking a side to face Shobrooke.
Keeper-batter Matt Allin faces several weeks on the sidelines with a broken hand. Ian Hayter will keep.
Skipper James Ford is doubtful due to a shoulder injury, but hopes to play if he can.
“I always look forward to playing Shobrooke as they are a good, competitive team,” said Ford.
“We will have to be at our best to get a result.”
Shobrooke’s Andrew Codling is not available so James Goodman comes.
“Bideford are good team so it should be a good game,” said skipper Phil Anning.
