THE mother of two promising players at Bideford CC is linking up with the club to arrange a special event in aid of the North Devon Chemotherapy Appeal.
Appledore born and bred Annette King, mum of first-teamers Josh (20) and Fred (16) is currently receiving treatment at the chemotherapy unit having recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.
As an experienced charity fundraiser, Annette is keen to help the cash-strapped unit in Barnstaple in whatever way she can.
“I thought a fund raising event at the cricket ground would be great,” said Annette.
“We’re having a fun match consisting of a mixture of my friends - male and female - all of limited cricketing abilities, and also an exhibition match performed by the cricket club's Under-11 squad to show us all how it should be done.”
There will be a small entry fee to help raise even more funds, a barbecue, ice creams, face-painting, a bar and a fantastic raffle to go with the cricket. All proceeds will go to the Chemotherapy Appeal.
“We’ve got some amazing raffle prizes - everyone’s been so kind in donating them,” said Annette.
“There is a year’s subscription to Michelle White’s gym, an 18-hole round of golf for four, Katie Price t-shirts, one week free in a holiday cottage from the Beaver Inn in Appledore, Sunday lunch for two at the Commodore in Instow, a family ticket for the Milky Way, and golf vouchers for Libbaton.”
Everyone of all ages is welcome at the ground in Westward Ho! for fun and games in a great cause from 6pm onwards this Friday (August 17).
If you can’t be there, but would still like to donate to the Chemotherapy Appeal, Annette has her own Just Giving web page: http://www.justgiving.com/Annette-King0
And a final word from Annette: “The Chemotherapy Appeal will provide a purpose-built environment for the 5000 cancer patients seen each year from our local communities.
“Please, please, please help the appeal and support myself and my family by coming along and having a good night.
“I look forward to seeing you all from 6pm onwards.”
