Bryan installed as Paignton captain
THE countdown to a new season is well under way at Paignton where Connor Bryan (pictured) is the new 1st XI captain.

Andrew Kingdon, who was captain last year, has left for E Division Babbacombe and a post as player-coach.

Bryan, a youth system graduate and former Devon age-group player, inherits a side looking to get back in the Premier Division after a two-year absence.

Paignton hope to unveil the identity of their new overseas player in the next few days, once visa formalities are sorted out.

The un-named player concerned is a South African fast bowler who can also bat.

Training nights for all senior players will be on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 6pm until 8pm.

All new players are welcome. For more information, contact Tim Ward via email tim.wardie@talktalk.net.

Paignton run a number of youth teams across the age groups and will be signing up for the season ahead on Friday, May 3.

A free coaching session as a taster for potential new members will be run from 6-7pm for boys and girls aged 5-13.

This session will be led by Paignton’s level three coach Ward, who has recently returned from South Africa where he was coaching the Devon U15 team. He will be supported by other qualified and experienced coaches.

A family barbecue will also be fired up from 6pm.

The club's youth section is thriving, and they have entered teams in the Under 10, Under 11, Under 12, Under 13, Under 14, Under 15, and Under 19 South Devon Youth League.

Practice for all colts is every Friday at Queens Park from 5.30-7.30pm.

Paignton's popular Sunday Morning Club, for boys and girls aged from 5 to 11, starts on Sunday, May 5. They will run weekly until the beginning of the school holidays.
