C Division round-up +top two heading for showdown

SOUTH Devon can clinch promotion from the C Division with a game to spare if they beat Dartington & Totnes this Saturday.
It’s neck and neck at the top of the table between Ipplepen and South Devon, who are locked on 266 points each.
Alphington are a distant third 35 points behind and need a miracle to make up the gap in the last two games.
Ipplepen and South Devon will settle their differences next Saturday when they meet in the title decider.
South Devon’s latest victims were Shaldon Optimists, whose five-wicket defeat means they have now gone ten games without a win.
James Fulner top scored for Shaldon with 89. He went on at five for one and was last man out at 142.
Former Devon captain Neil Hancock two three for 28 and there were two wickets each for Mike Smith and Sean Day.
South Devon’s leading run getter was Simon Rooke, whose 66 not out formed the backbone of the reply.
Rooke put on 53 with Smith (26) and 38 unbroken with skipper Ali Wright to win the game.
ALPHINGTON won by three wickets against Ottery St Mary in what looked suspiciously like a meeting between two of next season’s promotion candidates.
The Alphas have made their point by defeating Ipplepen and South Devon during the second half of the season.
Ottery had won five out of seven going into the game and have targeted two more before the season is out.
Billy Reed made 58 – he and Billy Rudolph put on 61 for the first wicket – and with Rob Crabbe (30) and Lewis Townsend (29) chipping in Ottery reached 202 for seven.
There were three wickets apiece for Alphas’ skipper Stuart Shaw and Andy Wilson.
Off went Alphington in hot pursuit with Dave Haysom (27) leading the way.
Paul James (72no) and Dinesh Rajesh (47) compiled a stand of 92 for the fourth wicket to put the result beyond doubt.
Pick of the bowlers for Ottery with three for 25 was Joe Burch.
CLYST Hydon came a cropper at home to lowly Kingsbridge, who clearly don’t intend going down without a fight.
Kingsbridge were bowled out for 163 with Kev Sercombe taking three wickets and Clinton Lewis going one better with four.
Hydon were bowled out in reply for 149 – Bhanuka deSilva (4-38) doing the damage.
Chris Holmes (24) and Hefflin Wood (23) chipped in and Dhanuja Harturusingha made 42 in a losing cause.
CHAGFORD came a cropper against Ipplepen, who bowled them out for 133 then knocked off the runs for five wickets lost.
Joe Abbott (2-30) and Callum Gaylard (2-23) did the early damage as Chagford dipped to 30 for four.
Chris Filor (36) and Jon Wright (22) fashioned a comeback of sorts, but spinners Keith Wakeham (2-17) and Matt Nicholls (3-23) ran through the lower order with the minimum of fuss.
The chase was a routine assignment for Ipplepen, who were home and dry with 14 overs to go.
Jack Lewis (24) and Nicholls gave Pens a 42-run start with Nicholls going on to make 54.
Del Lammonby (3-15) slowed things for a while, but Seb Powell (11no) and Jonny Ranjit wrapped things up.
DARTINGTON & Totnes warmed up for their derby clash at South Devon by handing out a 158-run hiding to Plymouth CS&R.
Jono Colgate’s great summer continued with a top scor of 74 in a total of 232 for four.
Liam Bligh (58) made a half-century, but Jack Marwick (47) just fell short.
Civil were skittled out for 74 in reply with Colgate (3-4) and Jamie Howrihane (3-14) leading the way.
Ryan Stevenson (2-9) and Will Gornall (2-24) had two wickets each.
