C Division 2nd XICORNWOOD are on the home stretch to promotion from the C Division after humbling Clyst Hydon by 213 runs.
Old warhorses Dave Petherbridge (92no) and Richard Cavendish (69no) piled on the runs after Chris Horton (52) and Graham Jones (61) had helped themselves.
Cornwood’s total of 293 for three was way beyond Hydon’s reach and they were bowled out for 79 by James Horgan (3-21) and Dave Staddon (4-18).
The Corns are 48 points clear of third-placed Clyst Hydon and two more wins should be enough to send them up.
Dan Piddock struck 94 as second-placed Plymouth CS&R eased home by four wicktets against Honiton.
Kev Kelly (70no) and Joe Dixon (40) were the Honiton batsmen who defied Simon Light (4-57) the longest.
Clyst St George came up short against Yelverton, whose 237 all out was underpinned by Gerry Keen’s 72.Oz Besley took five for 27.
Kevin Coe (50) and Alan Welsh (78) made inroads for St George, but they ran out of time at 209 for five.
Barnstaple & Pilton eased their relegation worries in a division where only one side goes down by beating Shobrooke Park by seven wickets.
Shobrooke, who are bottom of the table were held to 131 for five and Pete Rose made 52 of them.
Joe Johnson’s 62 not out broke the back of the chase.
