Third day abandoned

THE weather gods clearly have a grudge against Devon as day three of the game against Cornwall has been cancelled and the match abandoned.

Having lost the entire first day to bad weather, and nearly three hours on day two to rain and bad light, day three didn't start on time due to mist!

The Wheal Eliza ground at St Austell is wreathed in mist this morning and umpires Steve Malone and Geoff Callway quickly ruled out a 10.30 start. The umpires had a look at conditions again at 11am and decided there would be no play for 1pm. Lunch will be taken at 12.30 in the hope of playing this afternoon.

Devon dodged the interruptions on Monday to make 294 for eight in 81 overs with Rob Holman top scoring on 79 and Matt Thompson 77 not out overnight.
