Plymstock captain Seb Jordan surrounded by team-mates after the Corrie Cup win over Hatherleigh at Tavistock.
PLYMSTOCK defeated Hatherleigh by 11 runs to win the Corinthian Cup and complete part one of a hoped-for double.
For Plymstock are also chasing promotion from the Devon League B Division and are top of the table with four games to go.
Finals day should have been played at Whitchurch and Tavistock, but when semi-finalists Halberton pulled out the entire day was shifted to Tavistock after Hatherleigh had been waved through to the final.
Plymstock had to get past Axminster in the surviving semi-final, which they did by seven wickets.
Dave Orchard took five wickets and cup captain Seb Jordan four more as Axminster were bowled out for 92.
After a few minor scares, Plymstock knocked off the runs with Dom Wood scoring 52 not out.
Plymstock batted first in the final and racked up 166 for four. Josh Hocken smashed a fine 69 not out and Rory Coltham chipped in.
Hatherleigh were on the rocks at 50 for five but strong batting from skipper Richard Tidball got them back in the game.
A run rate of 10 an over from the last five overs was gettable, but tight bowling from Jack Thomas and Max Thomas saw Hatherleigh all out for 155.
Delighted skipper Jordan said: 'After a scare in the middle, I was really pleased with the way Max bowled to get us over the line.
'He backed up his older brother, who took 3-9 off his 4 overs to open the innings.'
Hocken, who was presented with the man-of-the-match award by league vice-chairman and Tavistock legend Stuart Munday, said: 'I went out there to play my natural game, luckily it came off, and we were able to get ourselves in a winning position.'
A disappointed on-looker at the final was Plymstock's overseas player Rhys Contessa, who has since flown home to Melbourne for knee surgery after injuring himself badly in the quarter-finals.
"It was great to see the boys collect some silverware, which will hold us in good stead for our league promotion push.
'I wish the boys all the best for the rest of the season and good luck.'
