Devon Cup first round results
PLYMOUTH are safely through to the last eight of the Devon Senior Cup after winning by 65 runs at Brixham today (Sunday).

Jack Bryant top scored with 61 and put on 122 for the third wicket with Chris Barr (60) as Plymouth reached 224 all out in the 40-over game.

Pick of the bowlers for Brixham with three for 43 was Tim Robinson.

Brixham were going along nicely at 97 for one with Mark Orchard (51) and Mitch Renwick (32) on top of the bowling.

Orchard’s run out was the turning point in the game and with Henry Bennett taking five for 29 Brixham slowed to 159 for four when their overs ran out.

Plymouth will be away to either Exeter or Plympton in the last eight.

Budleigh Salterton cruised to a 10-wicket win over Axminster yesterday in the first round of the Devon Cup.

Joel Murphy took three for 14 as Axminster were held to 105 for eight in 40 overs, then Gammy Amarasinghe thumped 53 not out to win the game in 18 overs.

Axminster 105-8 (D Murnane 29; J Murphy 3-14, G Amarasinghe 2-13), Budleigh 108-0 (G Amarasinghe 53, E Rice 39no). Budleigh bt Axminster by 10 wkts.

Plymouth 224 (J Bryant 61, C Barr 60; T Robinson 3-43, M Orchard 2-27), Brixham 159-9 (M Orchard 51, M Renwick 32; H Bennett 5-20), Plymouth bt Brixham by 65 runs.
