HEATHCOAT eased into the quarter-finals of the Tolchards Devon KO Cup last Sunday thanks to an 89-run win over Ivybridge.
Although Matt Parkes was an early casualty – he was out in the second over for nought – skipper Sam Smith got on with it to make 86 off 70 balls in a total of 236 for five.
Smith was third out at 138 having shared in a stand of 106 with Jamie Drew (25).
Fifth-wicket pair Jason Parr (52) and James Davies (17) put on 57 before Alex Thompson joined Parr for the last three overs to add 39 as the home bowlers flagged.
None of the Ivybridge bowlers went for below four an over.
Ivybridge found runs desperately hard to come by and at halfway were 63 for four and effectively out of it.
Jeewan DeSilva (62) and Neil Lancaster (43) put on52 for the fifth wicket, but once Sri Lankan DeSilva went the slide started.
Three batters went for ducks as Sean Andrews and Parr got among the tail enders.
Lancaster was last man out for Ivybridge, who only batted with 10 as Jamie Bullock was injured while fielding.
Heathcoat will; face Sidmouth at home in the next round on June 29.
