HOLDERS Sidmouth cruised through to the final of the Devon KO Cup - and a meeting with Bovey Tracey - with a runaway nine-wicket win over Heathcoat in their semi.
Heathcoat were limited to 143 for six in their 40 overs – skipper Chris Small making 51 not out and Sam Smith 33.
Sidmouth’s spinners proved a handful for Heathcoat with Miles Dalton taking two for 15 from eight overs and Matt Cooke one for 16 from his eight.
Cooke – Sidmouth’s in-form player with bat and ball right now – clubbed 80 not out in the 29.5 overs it took to wipe out the target.
Liam Lewis made 46 against the side he skippered last season, leaving Cooke and Anthony Griffiths 15 to get.
Victory keeps Sidmouth on course for the league and cup double as they are currently top of the Premier table with three games to go.
Skipper Will Murray said it was a bit too early to be talking about winning doubles just yet.
“We have been blowing hot and cold all season and right now we are blowing hot again,” said Murray.
“If we want to win anything we need to keep blowing hot.
“The final is on our ground on Bank Holiday Sunday, which is going to be something to look forward to.”
Heathcoat skipper Small said he could live with the disappointment of losing as his focus is on saving the club from relegation from the Premier Division.
“If had been told we could only win one game over the weekend, I wouldn’t have picked the cup game,” said Small.
“Beating Exmouth on Saturday was our priority and that’s what we did.”

EXETER skipper Jon Tipper said the eight-wicket drubbing by Bovey Tracey in the Devon Cup semi-finals had come at the right time.
The County Ground side are poised for promotion back to the Premier Division two years after they crashed out of it with only three wins to their name.
The size and manner of the defeat inflicted by Premier title chasers Bovey Tracey was a real wake-up call for Exeter.
“We haven’t lost a proper game all season – just a T20 – and were fresh from beating South Devon by 192 runs the day before,” said Tipper.
“Suddenly, wallop! We are on the receiving end – and it was just the right time for it.
“If we don’t get the 10 points we need to go up from our last three games we need are backsides kicking.
“We should be playing Premier cricket next year and best we find out know what it is like and preparing accordingly than turning up on day one, getting a thrashing and wondering how that happened?”
Exeter were limited to 152 all out with nine balls to go at Bovey – Callum Still (62) and Tom Viljoen (47) scoring most of them.
Devon seamer Ryan Bougourd was the pick of the bowlers with three for 43.Matt Kidd had two for 17.
Bovey got off to a 75-run start through Peter Bradley (41) and James Fulner (40).
Ben Ayres (33no) and Neil Hancock (35no) put on 57 unbroken as Exeter faded from the picture.
