Devon Cup update
THE recent outbreak of bad weather has played havoc with the Devon Senior Cup first round.

Seven matches were due to be played last Sunday and all of them were rained off.

The odd one out in round one was Exmouth against Bovey Tracey, which had been fixed for July 1.

Weather permitting - and the ground was out of action yesterday - Brixham will try again against Plymouth today.

Budleigh Salterton are due to play Axminster at Exmouth, who offered their ground during the week when it became clear Budleigh would not be playable.

Axminster are struggling at the wrong end of the B Division and should present no problems for Premier side Budleigh.

However, Budleigh skipper Joel Murphy won't be underestimating Axminster in the slightest.

'Paignton made that mistake against Axminster a few years ago and paid for it - and I don't want something similar on my record,' said Murphy.

Three ties - Bradninch v Sidmouth, Barton v Heathcoat and Cornwood versus Plymstock are due to be played a week today (July 24).

July 1 has been agreed by Exeter and Plympton, Torquay and Paignton and Exmouth and Bovey Tracey for their unfinished business.
