D Division - Last ball win for leaders
WHEN Feniton entertained Yelverton at Acland Park in May the visitors won by a single run in a thrilling encounter. It was no surprise when the return match, played at Yelverton, was just as close with the home team bagging a three wicket win off the final delivery of the contest! Feniton batted first and were indebted to skipper Mark Kingdon (37) and Graham Tucker (17) to see them to 154. Chris Pearson took 7-22 for the home side who were then edged over the line with Dan Cooper scoring the winning run off the final delivery. Steve Luffman had earlier underpinned the table toppers run chase with 79 and Geoff Brain chipped in with 40 whilst Russ Whitton claimed 2-35 from a dozen excellent overs for Feniton. The win leaves Yelverton sitting top 26 points clear. Feniton stay second, but the gap between them and Filleigh in fifth is now just 17 points.

Seaton continued their push for promotion with a 98 run win at Halberton and Sampford Peverell. Seaton batted first and were led to a total of 212 thanks to Mark Bray (53) and Mike Wheeler (32) whilst skipper Jeremy Turner claimed 5-46 for the Mid Devon side who were then bowled out for 114 with only Partridge (28) providing any real resistance. James Berry took 4-37 and there were three wicket hauls for both Ben Copp and skipper Ben Morgan.

Filleigh’s John Davey claimed all but one of the Honiton wickets as his team stormed to an eight wicket win to climb into the promotion picture. After John Hickman had claimed the first Honiton wicket Davey then took centre stage to return figures of 9-52 from a dozen overs as only George Meadows (34) made any headway. Simon Prideaux wasted no time in leading the North Devon side to an eight wicket win as he stroked his way to an unbeaten 85 with 13 fours and three 6s. Rob Collier (28) was the other not out batsmen when the victory was confirmed.

Cockington’s losing run in the D Division continued with a nine-wicket defeat against Plymouth CSR.

Cockington could be relegated this Saturday if they lose at Seaton and Countess Wear win at Halberton and Sampford Peverall.

Civil Service and Roborough are very much the form team in the section and they remain unbeaten since May 12.

James Sharpe claimed 4-19 as the hosts were restricted to 100-9, passed for the loss of just a single wicket thanks to Ben Wilkinson (62no) and Chris Sanders (36no).

Whimple exacted revenge for a seven wicket defeat at Countess Wear in May by beating the Exeter outfit by 35 runs in a low scoring affair at Knowle Cross. Dave Chamberlain hit a half century to guide Whimple to what looked a below-par total of 130. Par Sigh claimed 5-20 in 8.1 overs for Wear who were then bundled out for 95 with only Mark Davey making much impression with 20. Steve Hathaway took 3-18 and Phil Hope picked up 3-21 whilst there were also two wicket hauls for Luke Whitton and Will Cleal.
