D Division - Are Yelverton losing grip at top?
Yelverton’s grip on top spot in the D Division was weakened when they fell to a third defeat of the season, thumped by eight wickets at Filleigh.

James Harrison (35) and a whopping 42 extras aided the Yelverton cause as they limped to an all-out total of 166.

James Popplewell (3-31) and Gary Henry (2-18) did the damage for the ball with Filleigh.

Then the spotlight switched to Mark Prideaux. The Filleigh skipper’s brother plundered an unbeaten 109 as Filleigh raced to an eight-wicket win inside 24 overs.

Ryan Bowden shipped in with 27 and skipper Simon Prideaux was the other not out batsmen with four when the win was confirmed.

Filleigh go to Whimple next and then travel to Countess Wear after which they will have home matches with Feniton and Seaton before ending their campaign at Plymouth Civil Service and Roborough open September 1.

Seaton nailed a sixth win of the season when they became the latest side to beat struggling Cockington.

Nick Beedell was bowled moments after reaching his century and Mark Bray was 51 not out at the close with the Court Lane side declaring on 235-4.

Alex Hunt (25) and Beedell put on 105 for the opening wicket.

Phil Collins (5-30) and James Berry (3-48) then combined to bowl Cockington out for 120.

James Chamberlain was the one visiting batsman to offer very real resistance as he struck 68.

Cockington, yet to win this season, will become one of the first teams in the league to have relegation confirmed if they lose on Saturday at Honiton and results elsewhere go against them.

Plymouth Civil Service and Roborough continue to press their claim for promotion after they made short work of seeing off visiting Honiton, beating the East Devon side by six wickets.

Dave Windsor took 5-50 as Honiton were forced to settle for 212-7 with Brad Groves top scoring with 55.

Chris Sanders (69) and John Williams (64) then combined to see their side to a comfortable success.

Civil Service and Roborough remain unbeaten since May 12 and travel to Halberton and Sampford Peverell on Saturday before returning to their Plymouth home to entertain Seaton in what looks set to be a crucial encounter.

Another superb Bob Berry-prepared track at Countess Wear resulted in over 500 runs being scored for the loss of just nine wickets.

Visiting Halberton and Sampford Peverell batted first and powered their way to a 291-5.

John Chilcott top scored with 113 and there was a tidy 53 from Kev Fever.

Carl Downes took 2-67 for Countess Wear who replied with an equally impressive 213-4.

Mark Davey (55) and Kav Diaz (53) were the principle run providers whilst the ever-green Fred Harding claimed 2-43 from 13 excellent overs for the Mid Devon side.

The East Devon derby at Acland Park ended all square with visiting Whimple avoiding defeat, closing on 170-8 in reply to the Feniton offering of 217.

Martin Swannell (54), Andrew Rose (41no), Graham Tucker (37) and skipper Mark Kingdon (20) combined to see the home side to 217.

Lewis Whitton nephew to the home sides Russell Whitton, claimed four wickets for Whimple.

Opening bower John French only sent down one ball before being denied further action with an ankle injury and so it was left to Kingdon (3-35) and Brian Cann (3-30) to bag the bulk of the wickets.
