D East
Exeter III
opened up a 35-point lead at the top of the E Division East table thanks to
another emphatic victory – their seventh in as many games this term. Dom
Gaywood (2-23), Jim Wenley (2-31) and Jit Singh (2-45) were the main wicket
takers as hosts Kentisbeare were restricted to a close of 173-9. Rich Norman
top scored for the Kent’s with 56 and there were knocks of 45 from Gary Farley
and 25 from Andy Smith. Dion Bulner then cracked an unbeaten 113 and Sinth
Theveraj continued his fine form with an unbeaten 25 as Exeter raced to a nine
wicket win on 176-1.
Feniton
slipped up, beaten for only the second time this term when they went down by 53
runs at Acland Park to Axminster II. The Cloakham Lawn side were bundled out
fort 138 with all, the home bowlers sharing the wicket taking duties. However,
that total proved more than enough as Dave Gadsden claimed 6-21 with only
Stuart Bright’s 40 making any impression amongst an all out score of 85!
Kentisbeare
II stay third but are under threat now from Upottery II who were seven wicket
winners at Whimple II where the home side made 165-8 with John Bardot’s 25 the
top individual offering. Upottery then raced to victory at 166-3.
North Devon
III are the side who can feel most aggrieved by weather intervention after they
were 30-0 closing in on a handsome home victory after bowling out visitors
Uplyme & Lyme Regis II for 87 when the rains arrived to end play
prematurely. Maurice Blackmore (21no) and 13-year-old Reece Davies (10) put on
24 for the ninth wicket to help their side to 87, Blackmore was the not out
batsmen at the close.
James Blackmore (44no) and Steve Millington (37no) led Countess Wear II to a seven wicket home win over Exmouth III after the visitors were bowled out for 103. Only Dan Robinson with an unbeaten 34 made much headway for Exmouth as Nick Baxter picked up 3-24 taking Countess Wear to their third triumph of the season leaving Exmouth still seeking their first victory and also still with single figure points for their season’s efforts to date.
