DEVON and Gloucestershire are to have another go at playing their T20 joint benefit game at Cornwood.Rain washed out the first attempt earlier this months at playing the match. The new date is Friday, August 10 with a 4pm start
Former England A all-rounder and captain Alex Gidman is one beneficiary and Devon CCC's David Shepherd Foundation the other.
Devon and Gloucestershire have had close links for many years and over the past few summers have met regularly in benefit games of this type.
Gidman is due to open a new £50,000 four-lane net at Oak Park before the match starts.
Cornwood have been constantly improving their ground over the past few seasons. Firstly they added a second pitch, followed in 2010 by a £450,000 pavilion complex.
The county club has clearly been impressed by the work going on at Oak Park, which is why they asked Cornwood to host the game instead of regular venues such as Budleigh Salterton or Exmouth,
Cornwood are hoping the pull in the cricket-watching public from all over west Devon, who seldom get the chance to see quality cricket on their doorstep.
A corporate hospitality package will be on offer - minimum number four - which will include entry, a match programme and a three-course meal with complimentary wine. Contact Wendy Warren (07709 029579) or wendycwarren@hotmail.co.uk with booking enquiries.
"We are grateful to both Devon and Gloucestershire for giving us an opportunity to show we can host this sort of game," said Cornwood committeeman Phil Bees.
