DEVON Dumplings defeated the Old Plymothians by five-wickets in a 40-over game.
Jake Luffman gave the old boys a rapid start, hitting 36 off 42 balls. The good work was continued by Henry Bennett with a brisk 41 and Alex Hill with 58 off just 52 balls.
Then the innings fell apart the last five wickets falling for just 30 runs in a total of 194 in the 38th over.
Bowling honours for the Dumplings went to Exeter’s Callum Still with a tight spell of 2 for 9 off 5 overs, Anthony Beaven with 3 for 35 and Chris Kelmere with 2 for 36.
In reply the Dumplings lost an early wicket with the score at 16, but Andy Giles consolidated with a forceful 48.
Positive batting from Callum Still with 50 off 46 balls and Ben Ferrao with 25 off 16 balls got the Dumplings over the line for the loss of 5 wickets with nearly 10 overs to spare.
Will Chapman’s slow left-arm spinners, on an increasingly dusty wicket, produced figures of 4 for 34 for the OPs.
