E Division - Whitchurch skittled for 47
E Division was denied the section’s big game when the top two of Bridestowe and Uplyme and Uplyme were rained off.

Rain also brought a premature end to play at Kentisbeare where the hosts were 74-2, half way towards the Upottery total of 146 when the rain arrived.

Stuart Drew (31) and Andy Pullman (27) were the main scorers for the visitors with Howe (3-27), Pat Hobson (3-32) and Neil Farley (3-43) sharing the wicket taking. Leroy McCartney (19) was one of the two home wickets to fall, but Steven Reed was still there on 19 when the match was abandoned.

Rain also curtailed proceedings at Tiverton & Bickleigh where visiting Kenn were 23-2 chasing down the home sides 150-9 when stumps were drawn from increasingly soggy ground.

Mark Hutchinson, batting at number seven, was the star of the home show with an unbeaten 29 and skipper Tim Reed chipped in with 22.

Ramesh Batagadaje took 4-30 and there were a brace of wickets from Andy Chatham.

Kenn then made their way to 23-2 with both wickets falling to Paul Rendell, one of them aided by a superb catch from wicket keeper Mike Lowman who took the ball closer to second slip than his starting point behind the stumps!

They got a full game in at Kilmington, but only needed a couple of hours to get a result.

That was because visiting Whitchurch were skittled out for 47 in just 30 overs. Tom Wallis sent down 11 overs, conceding just ten runs whilst also claiming wicket. Such was the opening spell of Wallis and Ben Noble that, after 14 overs, the visitors had slipped to 6-4!

The main wicket taker was Noble who finished with 5-25 from his 13 overs whilst there was also an impressive 3-10 from skipper Hal Cook. Roland Stonex (24no) and John Lavender (19no) saw the home side to a victory that was wrapped up within two hours of the 2pm start!

They also managed a finish in what proved to be a high scoring affair at Bonfire Field where Shaldon departed with 19 points from a four-wicket win over Topsham St James.

Alex Sparkes (78) and Ross Treleaven (69) led the Saints to 229-8. Chris Whitehead was the main wicket taker with 4-48.

Seamus McKenna then stroked his way to his first century this season before being dismissed for 108. Mark Couch was the other principle provider of runs with 80 as a four-wicket win was sealed in the gathering gloom.
