E Division - Shaldon close gap
E Division

THERE was frustration for Uplyme and Lyme Regis when their game at Kentisbeare fell foul of the rain.

The damage to their E Division promotion push was negligible for the scheduled hosts are third in the table.

In terms of the title race it did allow Shaldon to gain ground, the second placed South Devon side banked 15 points from a winning draw and so the pair are separated now by ten points with four to play.

Uplyme and Lyme Regis travel to Kenn (who denied Shaldon) on Saturday and then host Whitchurch before going to Tiverton and Bickleigh and then bringing the curtain down on their campaign with a September 1 home game with Bridestowe.

In hard mathematical terms, 57 points from the four games, or three big points haul victories, and Ashley Caddy’s side will step up into the D Division next season.

No play either at Bridestowe where Tiverton and Bickleigh were the visitors.

Shaldon moved to within ten points of rained off Uplyme and Lyme Regis, but they were denied of five points by battling Kenn.

Shamus McKenna was the stand-out star of proceedings first top scoring with 48 in a total of 246-8 and then claimed 7-27 as Kenn closed on 168-9.

Todd Bulman (37) provided the best of the rest for the South Devon side whilst Henry Gayden (3-44) and Ramesh Batagadaje (3-48) claimed wickets for Kenn.

Nigel Barriball (31no) and Billy Barriball (35) led Whitchurch to 158-9 in reply to Upottery’s 180-9 – see East Devon cricket for Upottery details.

Kilmington were denied by the Topsham St James last pair and had to settle for a winning draw from their visit to Bonfire Field.

Adam Culley (84) and Ralph Cook (43) led the villagers to 219. Richard Stenning then claimed 6-50 as the home side were left hanging on at 181-9 at stumps.

Skipper for the day Alex Sparkes claimed 7-66 for the Sai9nts and then Tom Richardson (54) and Alex Kartikeyan (38) led the reply.
