E Division - Fifteen in a row for Uplyme

UPLYME and Lyme Regis made it 15 successive Francis Clark Devon League wins with a three wicket home victory over Kentisbeare.

Neil Price took 5-57 as the Mid Devon side were restricted to 174-9.

Skipper Ashley Caddy then led the run chase with 56. The two unbeaten batsmen at the close were Harvey Brimmacombe with 31 including the six that got the team over the fishing line, and Richard Holmes with 25.

Skipper Caddy said: “We are playing good cricket just now. What is shining through is a fabulous team spirit and everyone seemingly really enjoying what they are doing.”

Uplyme have an eleven point lead at the top of the E Division and on Saturday they host a Kenn side who have had the weather hit three of their five games so far this term!

Bridestowe bounced back from the previous weeks first defeat of the season to win by three wickets at Tiverton and Bickleigh. The hosts were bowled out for 156 with Sam Ewens (3-38) and skipper Lee Jutson (3-31) amongst the wickets. Mark Fogarty then hit 55 to lead Bridestowe to victory.

Kilmington were maximum point winners at home to Topsham St James with a fine all-round show. Ben Noble (3-36), Richard Stenning (2-26) and skipper Hal Cook (2-39) combined to bowl out the Saints for 172. Skipper Ross Treleaven, not for then first time this term, top scored with 57 and Joe Thomlinson hit 47. The in-form Roland Stonex then hit 84 and there was an unbeaten 64 from Win Wilmot, the pair putting on 158 for the 2nd wicket to see the East Devon side to an eight wicket win with a full twenty overs remaining.

They were set for a thrilling conclusion at Upottery where Whitchurch were 175-8 in reply to the hosts 193 all out when the rain ended things prematurely. Brothers Brian and Adam Pulman hit 40 and 27 respectively to lead the batting honours for Upottery with Ashley Rice taking 4-31 for the visitors.

Shane Kennard then took 3-52 for the villagers, but it was Stuart Drew and Gary Kennard who helped drag the game back for Upottery after the visitors had made a flying start in the run chase.

Five games into the season Upottery find themselves at the foot of the E Division table. On Saturday they travel to third bottom Topsham St James who start the game six points better off.

Shaldon took 13 points from an abandoned game at Kenn. Tod Bulman (52), Shamus McKenna (47) and Mark Couch (41) led the visitors to 232-6 with Ramesh Batajadaje (3-60) the pick of then bowlers. Falk Koehler was not out 30 with Kenn 107-4 when play was halted by the rain.
