Devon O60s' lose final on last ball

DEVON O60s 2nd XI were a whisker away from beating Kent in the Spitfire County Championship Plate final at Marlborough.

Kent scored 208 for 3 in their 45 overs – Malcolm Stroudley (64), Andrew Dixon (57) and Peter Thompson (51) all scoring half centuries.

Devon were always in the hunt thanks to excellent knocks from Barry Flicker (78) and Richard Coe (51).

Needing one run to win off the final ball, Devon were all out for 208 losing on wickets lost.

Devon skipper Stuart Munday said: “Well done to all the players for reaching the final.

“Sadly it was a game we lost rather than Kent won.

“Congratulations go to Kent as it’s their name on the cup.”
