Devon Girls show up strong again in ECB Winter Selections
Devon's female cricketers feature prominently in the recently announced ECB Women's winter training squads. Amara Carr and Jodie Dibble have both been retained in the England Academy Squad, for Carr it is just reward for consistent performances this summer behind the stumps and also with the bat. Jodie has endured a horrible time with injury, having to undergo surgery for a second time on her right shoulder that ruled her out for the whole of the 2013 campaign.

The Under 19 Development Squad includes left arm spinner Lydia Harris, all rounder Cait O'Keefe and wicket keeper bat Alli Kelly. All three players are members of the U17 side that reached the National finals of both the T20 and County Championship and all three perfomed exceptionally well at this years EWDU19 competition at Wellington College, Berkshire in August.

Jessie Jones is the sole representative in the Under 15 Development Squad, the developing all rounder once again put in some strong performances in county, particularly with her outstanding fielding and  developing off spin to go alongside her undoubted talent with the bat in addition to a strong showing at the EWDU15 competition also at Wellington.

All six players are key members of a very young and highly talented senior side. This year has been a tough one for all of the girls in county at senior level, that saw a season littered with injuries to key personnel and unavailability of players at key times of the season. Nevertheless, to their credit they have battled through to help the senior side retain it's Division 2 status and win promotion back to Division 1 South of the T20 competition.

These announcements come on the back of the selection of Carr, Harris, O'keefe and Aylish Cranstone to tour South Africa with the U19s.
