Graveney to speak at Shepherd Foundation lunch
FORMER England supremo David Graveney is the guest speaker at a fund-raising lunch for the David Shepherd Cricket Foundation in Exeter next month,

Graveney, who played for Gloucestershire, Somerset and Durham between 1972-1994, was chairman of the England selection panel between 1997 and 2008.

These days he is the national performance manager.

The foundation was set up three years ago as a memorial to former Test match umpire David Shepherd, whose cricket career started with Devon colts in the 1950s.

Shepherd went on to play for Gloucestershire - with Graveney - before donning the white coat.

Shepherd stood in three World Cup finals and 92 Test matches. He took up the Devon presidency when he retired from umpiring.

The foundation's aim is to develop the next generation of Devon cricketers for the Minor Counties team and hopefully beyond.

The lunch is at the Buckerell Lodge in Exeter on Friday, October 5. A three-course meal, including welcome drink and wine, is priced at £40.
