DEVON captain Neil Hancock could be out of the game against Shropshire starting today after suffering a broken nose in the Premier game against Exmouth yesterday.
Sidmouth were set 199 to win by Exmouth and had reached 131 for one on the chase with Hancock topping up the runs already made by Anthony Griffiths (58) and Josh Bess (39) with some big hits of his own.
Having hit county colleague Trevor Anning for two fours, Hancock was given the bouncer treatment with dire consequences.
Hancock wasn't wearing a helmet, the ball hit him square on the nose and off he went to hospital to be patched up.
The prognosis from Hancock last night wasn't promising. 'I wouldn't have thought I will be able to play,' said Hancock.
To add insult to injury, Sidmouth had what looked like certain victory snatched from their grasp.
They lost Hancock, Griffiths and Luke Bess for just one run added, them raced to 177 for four with 13 overs to go, Nick Gingell creaming a quick 30 not out.
With 21 needed to win and 12 over to get them in with effectively five wickets in hand, the umpires took the players off due to a combination of bad light and bad weather.
