Kelmere smashes ton in 38 balls

PAIGNTON batsman Chris Kelmere jnr clattered a whirlwind century in the Pro-Direct T20 game against Barton.

Kelmere slammed 105 not out in a devastating display of big hitting as Paignton raced to 191 for four in their 20 overs.

Kelmere  reached his 50 in 29 balls and needed nine more deliveries to get into three figures.

He hit three fours and 11 sixes – five of them in one over from Adam Parker – as Paignton added 86 runs in the last five overs.

Team-mate Richard Ashworth was positively pedestrian in comparison, taking 39 balls to make 52!

Best bowler for Barton was Alex Hunt with two for 19 in four overs.

Barton were 146 for six in reply from their 20 overs. Captain Parker made 58 and the in-form Tom Drake 46.

Pick of the bowlers for Paignton were Kelmere (2-19) and George Benton (3-18).
