KINGSBRIDGE’S season drew to a close with the annual presentation evening at the Butts.
With the club having no overseas player, the 1st XI finished mid-table, as did the 2nd XI following the previous year’s promotion.
Bhanu De Silva was the league’s third highest wicket taker with more 50 wickets, only topped by two overseas players. James Fletcher was the club’s top batsman.
Shaun Taylor finished high in the second XI wickets table as well as featuring in the runs list.
The season’s notable performances saw the club as the only side to come anywhere near beating runaway champions Lewdown – going down by just 13 runs.
De Silva took six for six against Stoke Gabriel and Neal Peach seven for 28 in the match against Ashburton.
Fletcher produced the best innings for the 1st XI - 69 versus Ivybridge in a low-scoring game.
The club’s only league century came from James Ellis in the 2nd XI fixture against Brixham.
These performances shone through when the awards were decided:
1st team player of the year- Bhanu De Silva’ 2nd team player of the year – Shaun Taylor; Best performance – James Ellis – for his 100 v Brixham.
Thanks would like to be given to the groundsman Tony Peach, tea ladies and helpers that keep the club functioning.
