Kerswell launch recruiting drive

KINGSKERSWELL Cricket Club have started indoor at Westlands School in Torquay every Wednesday from 7-8.30pm.

Indoor nets will continue until April 11and players are invited and indeed encouraged to attend.

The 2011 season was a successful one for the Club with the 2nd XI gaining promotion to the C Division and the 1st XI close to winning promotion from the F Division.

Nigel Butt, the 2nd XI captain, said: “For a small club we have a lot to be proud of.

“We have a thriving youth section with teams in all age groups who feed well into the senior sides.

“However we recognise that it is easy for a club like Kingskerswell to be squeezed between the bigger clubs in the Torbay and the Newton Abbot areas.

“I would ask everybody that plays cricket in South Devon to consider the benefits involved in playing for a small friendly club at a ground that must be one of the best in the area.

“We would ask all cricketers that live in or around the Kingskerswell area to look at putting something into their immediate community by supporting their local club.

“We would also encourage anybody that is playing in the area, but perhaps not as often as they would like, to consider joining and supporting a forward-looking and progressive cricket club”.

“We want to build on the success of 2011 and ensure the 1st XI win promotion from the F Division this year.

“To to do that we recognise we must move forward and bring in new talent as well as bringing on the best of the guys from our colts set up.”
