Ivybridge & South Dartmoor represent Devon
On Wednesday and Friday next week, South Dartmoor Community College and Ivybridge Community College will be representing Devon in the regional stages of the National Lady Taverners Indoor competition.

Both schools won their age group finals in Devon and will now have the opportunity to play against schools from 9 other counties.  The regional finals are being held at the University of Exeter, so they have the added benefit of home advantage!

Andy Fairbairn, ex-Cricket Development Officer for Devon commented,

"
'In 2008 we had 5 schools entering the Lady Taverners (school) competition, this year we had a record 44 entries including two new local rounds in the West and North of the County.

Last year we had the national champions at under 13 level and I wouldn't be surprised if one of Devon's schools won the national title again this year. Whilst the standard is high we have never lost focus on the enjoyment and participation factor for the girls, many of whom are experiencing cricket for the very first time.

Matt theedom, DCB Development manager added,

"Getting the girls joining their local girls section at cricket clubs is an area that we can improve but with more and more girls sections springing up we are in a fantastic position to achieve this.'

The Lady Taverners programme in Devon has been supported and driven by Chance to Shine Coaching Ambassabor, Caroline Atkins.

Good Luck girl's!
