Lapping stands down after 10-year reign at Honiton

HONITON’s 2nd XI captain Andrew Lapping has decided to step aside after being in charge for 10 years with eight years as 2nd X1 and two as 1st X1 captain in between,

The out going captain had the following statement to the committee.

“Now that the second team are in the highest division they have ever been in and are also safe in that division and but for availability and the weather would of been possibly top four, I have decided after a decade of being in charge of one team or the other it's time for me to step aside and concentrate on just playing, and for someone to bring fresh ideas to the team.”

That person is second team leading batsmen/wicket keeper Tom Strawbridge.

“I will of course continue to play and help the club move forward and will support Tom who takes over the post,” said Lapping.

“When everyone is available we have one the best squads around the area and with a couple new additions I'm sure both teams will compete next year.”
