Lifton explain reasons for pulling out of DCL

LIFTON will carry on playing in 2015 despite pulling out of the Devon Cricket League.

The west Devon side joined the league in 2013 and had two seasons in the F Division.

Chris Edmonds, the club chairman, said problems finding 11 players every Saturday were the reason for pulling out.

“We found it increasingly difficult to field a full team during 2014,” said Edmonds.

“After three players gave notice at the end of the season of their intention to leave, it became almost inevitable we would find it even harder to fulfil fixtures in 2015.

“As a rural village surrounded  by strong team set-ups such as Werrington, Launceston and Lewdown, the opportunity of attracting players is somewhat limited.

“I am pleased to say we will continue to compete in the Tamar Evening League and, where possible, arrange friendly weekend fixtures next year.”
