A PACKED audience from the world of education, business and sport took up the invitation to hear ECB performance director David Parsons give a talk on world class performance.

Numerous organisations were represented at the event, which was organised by new Minor Counties champions Devon CCC in conjunction with their premier business partner Ashfords LLP, whose Exeter office in Grenadier Road was the venue for the event.

Those there included representatives of the Devon Cricket League, the University of Exeter, Exeter Chiefs, Lords Taverners and many clubs from the County including new Premier champions North Devon CC.

Ashford specialise in sports law. Jamie Horner, one of the partners, said he was delighted by the take up for tickets.

He added: Devon CCC are the pinnacle of cricket in Devon and we were pleased to host the event in a year in which Devon won the Minor County Championship and England became the No1 Test playing nation in the world.

Parsons commented after the event that it was great to see so many people from Devon who were interested in elite sport.

Part of the evening was a question and answer session with Devon CCC’s director of cricket Roger Newman.

Newman said it was hoped to organize similar sporting seminars in the future.

He added: “Devon are fortunate to have a business partner like Ashfords who have a genuine interest in our sport and are keen to get involved in extra-curricular activities.”
