Plympton duo switch to ambitious Plymstock

A DIVISION new boys Plymstock have pinched wicketkeeper-batsman Dan Robotham from Plympton to bolster their side for the season ahead.

Last season’s runaway B Division champions have brought in a number of players from near and far with Robotham the best known of them.

Robotham (pictured) joined Plympton in 2007 from Plymouth Civil Service having previously featured for Woodland Fort in the P&D League.

The 26-year-old, originally from Gillingham in Kent, was talent spotted by Devon and played for the county in a 50-over friendly against Kenya at Exeter in 2008.

“Dan is one of the best ‘keepers in the South West and a consistent performer for Plympton in the top order with the bat,” said Plymstock 2nd XI captain George Barnicott.

“Plymstock look forward to the wealth of experience he can bring, not only to the 1st team but the whole club.”

Young all-rounder Hal Kerton has returned to Plymstock after playing a season for Plympton in the Premier 1st XI and their 2nd XI.

Former Fowey left arm spinner Darren Full has also joined the ranks. As a big turner of the ball and top wicket taker in Cornish cricket, he strengthens the 1st XI.

PCC have strengthened their ties with Melbourne cricket club Strathmore. Rick James and Jesse Contessa have come over from Australia to play with Dom Wood and Jack Thomas going down under in return.

Strathmore batsman Matthew Reynolds is heading over to see why Plymstock are so warmly recommended by his teammates!

A left-handed batsman, Reynolds spent six years playing district cricket at Essendon with the likes of Clint McKay and Chris Rogers. He opened the batting with the latter on several occasions. In 2004/05, he was his regional side’s leading run-scorer.

With a few more signings to be confirmed over the coming weeks, Plymstock are looking forward to an exciting season ahead.

As ever, any players wanting to join are more than welcome. Plymstock run four adult teams over a weekend and nets are every Wednesday at 7.30pm at Plymstock School.
