HUGO Whitlock’s four-wicket haul wasn’t enough to earn Abbotskerswell victory over Paignton B in the South Devon League Division One.
Jamie Salt (39) and Charlie Slough (33) top scored for Paignton in their total of 133 all out – Whitlock taking four for 25.
Although Guy Harrison-Roberts (27), Karl Beasant (30no) and Jono Penny (30no) all chipped in, Abbots ran out of time at 130 for four.
Paignton A were six-run winners when they faced Dartington & Totnes. Danny North (32no), George Benton (32) and George Yates (38) were leading scorers for Paignton in their 151 all out.
Ashley Harvey (45) and James Howrihane (25) pointed D&T in the right direction and Jono Colegate weighed in with 24. Run-outs proved D&T’s undoing – four of them as they were dismissed for 145 with 10 balls to go.
Kingsbridge flogged Torquay all around the sports hall on their way to 205 for five – Dan Hardy (68no) and James Fletcher (59no) leading the way.
Scott Baldry had a bowling spell to forget for Torquay – one for 44 from two overs! His wicket was James Rosewarne for 41.
Torquay won by five wickets from the last ball of the game – Baldry ending in credit with 50 not out and Nick Watkin contributing 40no. Neil Osborne (28), Ollie Hunt (24) and Joe Thompson (27) all helped out.
Chelston beat Abbotskerswell B by four wickets in a low-scoring game which went to the last ball.
Tom Durman (50no) top scored for Abbots in their 118 all out – Matt Bellamy taking three for 24.
Wojciech Szymanski and Chris Harrison with a pair of 25s pointed Chelston in the right direction. Durman took two for 18.
Brixham roped in rugby players Dylan Flashman, Steve Worth and Ross Edwards against Kingskerswell – and won by four wickets two and a half overs to go.
David Lear’s 43 was as good as it got for Kerswell, who were all out for 119 with two overs to go.
Jack Clark (32no), Flashman (32) and George Northcott (26) did the business for Brixham.
Ipplepen crushed Paignton C by 160 runs in a one-sided affair.
Dave Harris and Jonathan Norman both made half centuries – and Chris Partridge just missed out with 47 – in Pens’ 202 for three.
Paignton were bundled out in the ninth over for 42 – last man Jordan Langford the only batter in double figures.
