TORQUAY beat Paignton B by 44 runs in the opening game from Division One of the new South Devon Indoor League.
Torquay made 165 for one in their 12 overs – Ollie Hunt the only one of the batsmen who was dismissed.
Nick Watkin and Mark Gilmour retired on 28 each, Scott Baldry had 27 against his old club, Joe Thompson made 25 and Ben Passenger 23 not out.
Despite a battling 65 not out from Dan Wolf, Paignton ran out of steam on 121 for three.
Paignton A fared far better against Kingsbridge, running out four-wicket winners with three overs to spare.
Dan Hardy top scored on 51 for Kingsbridge and James Rosewarne chipped in with 30 towards a total of 119 for four.
There were two wickets each for Conor Ashworth (2-31) and George Benton (2-19).
Ian Selway (27ret) and George Yates (27ret) pointed Paignton in the right direction, then Danny North (33no) finished things off.
Dartington & Totnes lost to Abbotskerswell, who bowled them out for 138.
Jono Colegate (44) and S Gornall (33) were the leading run scorers in D&T’s 138 all out. Jonno Penny took two for 39.
Guy Harrison-Roberts (71no) and Paul Acton (28), aided by Penny (19) led the run chase.
Kingskerswell beat Stokeinteignhead by 26 runs in a high-scoring affair from Division Two.
Matt Stephens (51) and James Pethick (57) both hit half centuries in Kerswell’s 207-3.
Stoke ran out of time at 181 for four with Dan Britcliff (63) and Tom Hawkins (52) the not out batters. Paul Harding took three for 36 for Kerswell.
Chelston overpowered Paignton C by 36 runs with Chris Mabbutt (49) and Mark Scott (28) the leading scorers in a total of 158.
Earlier, opener Liam Bryan (50no) took the batting honours for Paignton in a total of 122 all out. Harrison (2-12) was the pick of the bowlers.
Elsewhere in the first round of fixtures, Abbotskerswell B scored 163 for four against Brixham, who were limited to 133 all out in reply, Mark Orchard top scoring with 47.
