BEN Libby and Mark Bray won the 1st XI batting and bowling awards at Seaton’s end-of-season presentation evening in the Court Lane pavilion.
The ever-belligerent Bray (pictured) was the pick of the batters for the third time in four years with 343 runs – more than 100 more than anyone else in the team.
Libby’s 21 victims won him the bowling award ahead of 16-year-old rookie Tim Mitchell, who impressed with 15 wickets in his debut season.
Ian Hunt, the 2nd Xi captain, entertained with tales from his side’s hugely successful promotion campaign.
Amongst the humour and congratulations the 2nd XI Batting Shield was presented to newcomer Will Mudd for his 404 runs in 10 innings at an average of 50.
Hunt took the bowling award for the second successive year, this time for picking up 22 wickets.
Other 2nd XI players recognised were James Thomas (young player of the year), and Oliver Pinnock, who took the Andy Cottam Award for most-improved player.
The final prize was the clubman of the year. For his hours of voluntary umpiring – often in wind and rain – this was won by Phil Cooper.
Earlier in the evening, colts coach Steve Pritchard marshaled the junior section awards.
Under-11 captain Tim Doulton (below) who was only out once during the season, retiring unbeaten in his other innings, won the batting award.
Finlay Copp who bowled consistently straight and was rewarded with trials for the East Devon side won the bowling award.
The fielding prize went to Jack Dormer for his fearless wicket-keeping.
The Under 13s had a successful season finishing runners-up in their league and cup competitions.
The stand-out batter was Ben Goodier while left-arm spinner Elliot Driver won the Bowling Award. Max Peacock was rewarded for his outstanding fielding.
A youthful U15 side – assisted by several U13s – was only beaten twice all season.
An outstanding effort to take four wickets in one match saw Jack Harwood gain the bowling award.
Sam Goodier was awarded the batting trophy whilst the colt of the year cup went to the captain Will Down for his excellent leadership.
A new sportsmanship award – the Ryan Walker Spirit of Cricket Cup – was presented for the first time.
Ryan, who coached at Seaton, died unexpectedly earlier this year.
The inaugural winner was Jed Pinnock (right).
