Morgan upbeat about Seaton prospects

SEATON should be up among the front runners this season in the C Division East thanks to some handy close-season captures.

That’s the view of skipper Ben Morgan as he looks ahead to the season, which starts with a home game against Clyst Hydon.

Seaton have been moved up a level as part of the league’s regionalisation programme having been stuck in the D Division for the past three years.

Suddenly they are in sight of the B Division again, and it’s too good an opportunity to miss.

“With Joel Seward and Robbie Prior coming to us from Axminster, we are much better off than we were last year,” said Morgan.

“Both are proven performers at our current level and above and will be assets to the team.

“We have also got Jamie Bond back after five or six years when he has barely played, which is another middle-order batsman.

“The new league is going to be an unknown quantity for us as we don’t know much at all about Barnstaple, Alphington, Feniton or Kentisbeare, teams we haven’t seen for a while or at all.”

Morgan is naturally delighted with his signings – Seward is an all-rounder, Prior bowls seamers and bats a bit – although it hasn’t been one-way traffic.

Batter Alex Hill has gone to Chard and Sean Perry has left for Kilmington as work commitments make Seaton’s earlier start times hard for him.

Axminster have picked up John Waterhouse, who bats, and Niall, who bowls.
