Sidmouth need some consistency

SIDMOUTH’S chances of regaining the Premier title from arch rivals Exmouth depend on finding a consistent streak missing last year.

Although Sidmouth finished runners-up last season, from early on were trailing behind Bovey Tracey and Exmouth.

Skipper Will Murray, who lifted the title in 2012, was clear where things went wrong.

“We started well then dropped away because we didn’t play the cricket we are capable of,” said Murray.

“There were games we lost that we should have won and that was what cost us.”

Sidmouth meet Exmouth around the halfway stage of the season, in a game Murray believes is vital.

“We need to keep winning before we get to the first Exmouth game to make sure they is plenty riding on it,” said Murray.

Sidmouth open up with atrip to Bovey Tracey, where they will be parading new Aussie signing Dan Babula.

Fast bowler Babula has had a busy season on the Sydney circuit, taking 43 wickets for Manly at around 21 each. He flew into this country on Tuesday.

Gone from last season’s Sidmouth squad is Dominic Bess, who has joined Exeter.
