Dibble tests fitness with outing for Sidmouth

SIDMOUTH are boosted by the return after injury of Somerset paceman Adam Dibble (above) for the Fortfield meeting with Heathcoat.

Dibble has been out for a while with hamstring trouble and is testing his fitness before going back to work at Taunton.

Dibble could play for a couple of weeks – which s good news for Sidmouth with second-placed North Devon coming up next Saturday.

Sidmouth skipper Will Murray is still pinching himself to make sure he isn’t dreaming that his side are 26 points ahead in the Premier Division.

Murray is also keen to keep feet on the ground for what is likely to be a highly charged game against opposition who are a bit better than their league position suggests.

Former Heathcoat captain Liam Lewis has been piling up the runs for Sidmouth this season, with ex-Knightshayes team-mate Peter Randerson aiding and abetting lower down the order.

Heathcoat’s latest signing is keeper-batter Dan Powell, who left Sidmouth a month ago in search of a top-order slot in a Premier side.

“I am looking forward to seeing Dan bat as close quarters as I haven’t seen a huge amount of him,” said Murray.

Heathcoat are only one place and five points clear of the bottom two, but that is no reason to take the lightly according to Murray.

“Heathcoat have done a bit better than a lot of people expected this season and in Sam Smith, Qassim Adams and others have some decent players.

“I am pleased with the way we are going and hope to keep winning, but we have to put the effort in every week.

“Being 26 points ahead before halfway is something I would not have expected.

“It is important we stay focussed as with North Devon coming up we could have everyone breathing down our necks again if we don’t keep winning.”
